The software: local AI you can read the source of

HilbertRaum Software is the open-source heart of the project: a local AI workbench for documents, PDFs, and private knowledge, built for people who want to see exactly what runs on their machine. One download to set up; after that it runs fully offline. Updates and new models come on your terms, never with your data.

Open source, end to end

Every component is inspectable. “Your data stays local” isn't a promise you have to take on faith. It's a property you can verify in the code. The source is on GitHub, licensed under the GPLv3.

Your hardware, your choice of models

Runs on a normal laptop; early users report snappy performance even on an M1 MacBook with 16 GB of RAM. Pick models that fit your machine and your task, from lightweight summarizers to stronger reasoning models on capable hardware.

Built for document work

Summarize, extract, ask questions across files: the workflows from our use cases are first-class features, not prompt acrobatics.

Offline by default, online by choice

No account, no telemetry, no silent update pings. After the first download it's fully usable with networking disabled; it only reaches out when you choose to update or add a model, never with your documents.

How it works

From download to first answer

step 1

Install

Get the software from the repository and install it on Windows, macOS, or Linux. No account needed.

step 2

Pick a model

Choose a recommended local model for your hardware; our curated suggestions take the guesswork out of it.

step 3

Add documents & ask

Point it at your files and start asking. Everything (files, questions, answers) stays on your machine.

Is DIY right for you?

  • you'd rather invest a little time than buy hardware

Consider the Kit if…

  • you want local AI without any setup at all
  • you'd like models pre-selected and pre-tuned
  • you want a portable setup you can move between machines
